Online Silent Auction starts 26 NOV 2021

Camphill Farm Community Hermanus is pleased to announce the presentation of an art exhibition at prestigious Bouchard Finlayson Winery, in the Hemel-en-Aarde Valley, from 3 to 11 December 2021. The art works on exhibition were created by the residents of Camphill Farm Community Hermanus  (“Camphill”) for participation in the Paralym Art World Cup 2021. 

The Paralym Art World Cup 2021 was an international competition earlier in the year for artists with disabilities to shine! The theme this year was, ‘express what SMILE means to you’.

The idea was to have a fun and happy creative experience while creating artworks which would give the artists a sense of upliftment, accomplishment and group pride. The artists were asked to lie down on their papers in a position that expressed ‘Happy’ to them.  Their bodies were then drawn around creating a silhouette outline within which they could express themselves.   Much enjoyment and laughter was expressed in the process!  

Each resident drew their unique smile on their ‘happy body’.  They then embarked on a wax rubbing technique to create textures that appeared as if by magic within their bodies. The rubbings formed a surprising waxy residue for the watercolours painted on top.   This was combined with a Spring feel and images of spring flowers were collaged onto many of the artworks to add to the ‘blooming’ happy expressions.  All the residents are confident that, joyful individual pieces have facilitated a group exhibition that would make any viewer SMILE. In conjunction with this exhibition, Camphill will be presenting an online silent auction from 26 November to 11 December 2021 where family members and friends who are not able to visit Bouchard Finlayson Winery to preview the lots in person, can then view the bid catalogue on our website (https://farm.camphill-hermanus.org.za/silent-auction-online-bid-sheet/) and make a virtual bid. The lots start at R250 each unless stipulated otherwise. On the 11 December the final ‘dropping of the hammer’ will be at 13h00pm and all winning bids will be completed. In addition, we will conclude the event with a Community picnic at Bouchard Finlayson Winery on Saturday 11 December from 10h30 till 13h30.
